Thomas Ingoldbsy pub closes for refurbishment

Wetherspoons pub ‘The Thomas Ingoldsby’ in Burgate, Canterbury closed yesterday, January 5th, to allow for five months of refurbishment. The work will cost Wetherspoons £1.5 million, and allow the busy pub to serve its customers better.

The renovated pub is set to have a new bar on the first floor, and will also be adding 13 bedrooms for the site to develop into a hotel.

Wetherspoons have said the refit will create many more jobs and have hailed the forthcoming work as an “asset to Canterbury”.

The current staff have been relocated to other Wetherspoons pubs.

The Thomas Ingoldsby is set to reopen on Tuesday, May 29th.
