Dance are hyped for Varsity

"We came out on top last year but only by a single point, so it’s fair to say we’re determined to pull it out of the bag again" - Issey Spurway (Social Secretary)

Having only just joined the Varsity teams in competing, Kent Dance open up about how important it is to be a part of Varsity. InQuire talks with Social Secretary Issey Spurway about their expectations for Varsity.

Issey Spurway (Social Secretary):

"We are so excited because it’s our first opportunity this year to compete with a fresh set of competition dances. Every squad has worked so hard and we can’t wait to see what CCCU has to offer. We’re also a little nervous because it’s always a close competition! We came out on top last year but only by a single point, so it’s fair to say we’re determined to pull it out of the bag again. CCCU offer dance degrees so their talent levels are high, but we’re hoping ours are higher!

Of course we’d love to win but it’s always such a fun evening and the talent amongst both teams is incredible. This is the first year our point counts in the official varsity total so it’s giving us more of a reason to work hard.

Our squads have to work completely as a team in order for the dances to look good and run smoothly. They have to trust each other and be entirely committed to their team, so it’s definitely this commitment and strong team spirit that makes us amazing. We’d like to be optimistic and say yes to winning, but it’s always a close competition so anything can happen.

One word to sum up Varsity: Exciting!
