Men's Cricket are well prepared for Varsity
"Unlike our opposition, we hold ourselves under pressure" - Brewster Surridge (Chairman)
After training hard this year for the anticipated event, Men's Cricket have been training to win. There's been improvement in the team this year, according to the captain. After a disappointing summer defeat from the first team last year, the team are hoping to follow the victorious footsteps of the second team instead (who won in their summer match). Watch this space.
Brewster Surridge (Chairman)
"We are confident for Varsity. Our indoor play has been quite strong in recent years. I mean, last year was a white wash across all 3 of our fixtures so we’ll be keen to put that type of beating on Christ Church again. I am high in team spirit for sure. We have been training to win so that is what we’ll aim to do. Unlike our opposition, we hold ourselves under pressure. I think we can win."
One word to sum up Varsity: Noisy
Men’s Cricket – Michael Tyrer (Captain)
"We're feeling good as a group for Varsity. We have been training exclusively on our indoor game for the last 4 months and the team has improved massively over this period. The team is settled and we are confident going into the game. Our 1s and 2s beat CCCU indoor last year but haven't had a great record in previous years before that.
We are in it to win it. Indoor and outdoor varsity are the highlights of our year, as we dont have regular BUCS fixtures like other sports. The team this year are very experienced. For some of us this is our 4th, 5th and even 6th varsity. We have been here before and know how to deal with the pressure of the day, as well as playing in front of a crowd. CCCU will be a tough challenge however I am confident that we have prepared approtiately and thoroughly. The mixture of experience and preparation will get us over the line."
