Love it or loathe it, spooky season has arrived. As university students, Halloween provides the best excuse to express our love for all things fun and creative, but trying to impress on a budget can sometimes be tricky.
In the age of YouTube mua’s, a new trend is surfacing that allows you to use makeup to create standout Halloween looks that can be both scary and sexy. Instead of resorting to the classic devil and angel with your best friend this Halloween, abandon those redundant, overdone Halloween looks and branch out.
2019 Has been a year of big moments in pop culture and we’ve cultivated some of the most inspired ideas drawn from this year’s big pop culture moments. These are ideas you can emulate that are guaranteed to impress this Halloween, alongside products you can buy to create these designs – that you can use more than once – with student friendly price tags.

Disney

You can make them as simplistic as you want, using the colour palette in the images below or go wild and add some glitter and face paint.

To achieve these looks you will need a colourful eyeshadow palette – again, the MUA palette used for the Avengers look will do perfectly.
You will also need a face paint palette which can be purchased on Amazon for as little as £8.
Pop music in 2019

For those of you who do not want to be as extravagant for your Halloween look, choosing a makeup look from a popular music video of 2019 could be for you.
We’ve taken inspiration from Ariana Grande’s 7 Rings music video. Viewed over 587 million times, you can create a recognisable impact whilst utilising products you most likely will already have in your makeup bag.
To get Ariana’s look, a killer winged liner, some stars underneath your eyes, a glittery lip, and that signature high ponytail will nail the singer’s likeness.
Shop the look:
Most craft stores will have cheap glittery stars that you can stick under your eyes. Use NYX’s professional makeup glitter primer to glue them on with. Available at Boots for £8. A cult favourite amongst mua’s that you will definitely use again.
To achieve the perfect glitter lip, you can either purchase a kit in Superdrug or for a more budget-friendly option, try adding some regular glitter in with your lip gloss.
Game of Thrones
A look for the more artistic amongst you – perhaps those who also are willing to invest in some prosthetics and spend some time mastering this makeup masterpiece – This take on Daenerys Targaryen from George HBO’s Game of Thrones is sure to make a statement.
Shop the look:
For this look, you will need some facial prosthetics, a face paint palette, a black liquid eyeliner, and if you really want to go the extra mile, you some dragon-inspired contact lenses and a Daenerys wig will deliver the ultimate Khaleesi look.
The inspiration for this idea is from Keilidh MUA on YouTube – you can check out her tutorial here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L1AGGFz-qCw
