We’re putting everyone’s makeup bag essential to the test – mascara. Whether you like a natural look, or mascara is a staple in your extravagant going out makeup routine, why not branch out and try something new? We all know, as festival season approaches, a long wearing mascara is essential, we’ve done some of the leg work, so if you haven’t found your perfect match and are still unsure, here are the best mascaras on the market.

L’Oreal, Castor Oil-Enriched Paradise Volumising Mascara - £11.99

If you’re looking for a mascara that will give you that false lash effect, this one could be for you. This mascara is great at providing full, black lashes. It is also budget dupe for the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara, so if your concern is spending £19 on a mascara, this one is a great alternative. I found that this doesn’t transfer under your eyes throughout the day (which we know is never a good look!), whilst also being relatively easy to remove – I love the Garnier Micellar Water to remove eye makeup.

Too Faced, Better than Sex - £19

If you’re looking to splurge that extra bit of cash, look no further because the Too Faced Better than Sex is a cult favourite. Well loved by beauty guru’s everywhere for its consistency – not too dry that it will flake off during the day and not too oily that it will transfer onto your eyelids whilst drying. Although this may not be one for the budget-conscious amongst you, an option to consider is being able to purchase the mini version on Cult Beauty for £12 (great for touch ups throughout the day too). If you want full lashes and want to avoid having to apply falsies, this could be the answer.

Maybelline, Lash Sensational - £8.99

For long, fluttery lashes, we suggest the Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara. This mascara is an everyday makeup bag staple as it’s super black but doesn’t clump, achieving more of a natural look when compared to the previous two suggestions. I found this to be a prominent favourite among University of Kent students, as it doesn’t dry out in the tube too early so is great for frequent use. This mascara would also be our suggestion if you prefer a fibrous wand over a plastic one. It comes in a waterproof formula which is great if you have naturally watery eyes or are planning to watch a soppy rom com.

Barry M, Feature Length £4.99

This mascara is great for those amongst you who are looking for a more natural effect. Rather than creating the full lash falsie look, this mascara separates and lengthens, to create a more doll eye effect. To turn this natural look from day to night, I’ve found simply curling your lashes using an eyelash curler and adding another coat works wonders. The thin, plastic wand also means that you can apply this neatly to your bottom lashes. You can’t go wrong for only £4.99.

Soap & Glory, Thick and Fast Flash Extensions - £10.50

A favourite for night out lashes; it sits well under false lashes and is long lasting. Soap and Glory mascaras are quick to apply whilst also being quick to remove. This mascara is fantastic as it is light weight, meaning it doesn’t weigh down curled lashes, keeping your eyes looking wide and awake all day and all night.

Barry M, Rebel Lash Coloured Mascara - £4.99

If you’re looking to branch out with your mascara choices, a coloured mascara is a great option. Guaranteed to make you stand out. This Barry M one comes in blue or pink and would look really cool on your bottom lashes to add a bit of fun to your next party look.

Natural Collection, Length Mascara - £2.49

If you want to naturally enhance your own lashes without committing to a dramatic lash look or if you’re new to the makeup game, try out a brown mascara. I love this one as it is quick and easy to apply and will give you a wide-awake look without the need for any other makeup. Great also, if you’re in a rush.
