Kent staff announce further strikes in February and March

This University and College Union (UCU) have announced that another 14 days of strike action will be taking place in February and March.

The current dispute is over pensions, rising costs of members and staff pay when they are on temporary and precarious contracts.

This strike action will commence on February 20th and will escalate until March 13th unless an agreement is made.

Approximately 74 universities will be taking action, including the University of Kent.

This follows the previous strike action in November and December last year which was also over the issues of pay and conditions.

The University of Kent UCU members will be walking out on the grounds of pay and conditions dispute if they so wish.

The last time around University of Kent saw a majority of UCU members vote in favour of industrial action over pay and conditions, on a 50.6% turnout.

It is unclear to know how this will affect students.
