Canterbury Venues Close Due to Corona Virus

The Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury today announced in a Facebook post that following Government advice they will be cancelling all performances and closing from the 17th of March to the 17th of April. The team at The Marlowe has asked that customers not contact the box office team, and instead that they will be directly contacting anyone with a booking to any cancelled performance to offer refunds or rain-checks. The Marlowe has also announced plans to send out emails should there be further changes to performances after the 17th of April.
This statement has been echoed by the Gulbenkian and Colyer-Fergusson, who in a statement today announced intentions to remain closed until 30th April, and to contact those who already hold bookings with details about seeking refunds.
Major cinema chains such as the Odeon, Cineworld and Vue have announced full closures of all locations and automatic refunds of pre-booked tickets.
The Curzon cinema chain, has issued a statement that they will be temporarily closed as of Thursday 19th March.
The Archbishop of Canterbury has announced that the Church of England will suspend all church services until further notice. However, the Canterbury Cathedral is still open for private prayer or those wishing to visit the site.
The Beany Museum in Canterbury City Centre has annouced its closure until the 30th April.
The Turner Contemporary Gallery in Margate has announced that following Government advice that ‘businesses should continue to operate as normal,’ they too will remain open. However, as this is no longer the most recent Government recommendation, visitors should anticipate change to this policy. Edit: The Turner Contemporary Gallery has now announced that it will be closed from the 18th March.
St Augustines Abbey, Canterbury Roman Museum and Kent Museum of Freemasonry have all closed in Canterbury.
Nearby zoo's such as Wingham Wildlife Park and Howletts Wildlife Park still remain open for the time being.
