Kent Summer Ball 2020 cancelled due to Coronavirus

Kent Union have cancelled this year's Kent Summer Ball.

In the light of the Coronavirus pandemic, Kent Union cancelled the event for the safety and wellbeing of students this morning, and students who bought a ticket will be reimbursed soon.

Kent Union said on facebook: “We're really disappointed to bring you this news, but we hope you'll agree it's the right thing to do.

“The safety and wellbeing of our students and staff always comes first.”

Students who bought their tickets in person will have to take action by filling a form out and sending it back to Kent Union to receive their refund.

All students should receive an email with information by the end of the day.

The event, which was to take place on Kent campus, was originally “100% sold out” after tickets were on sale for one day only.

Emily Window, Vice-President for Student Engagement said: “We are so disappointed to have to cancel summer ball, much like our other events and awards ceremonies.

“We always love running this event, seeing everyone get dressed up and like last year we had begun to plan some really fun things to give students an amazing experience.

“However, we’ve made this decision in order to keep everyone safe and I’m sure that everyone will understand this. We’ll keep everyone up to date on future plans for the ball.”
