Our favourite at home cocktail recipes

There’s nothing better than treating yourself to a cocktail or two to see in the weekend. Now bars are closing promptly at 10pm and nights out aren’t quite the same as they used to be, we’ve been on the hunt for some tasty cocktail recipes that we can make at home on a budget. These are our tried and tested favourites!

Raspberry and Ginger Smash

I discovered this refreshing cocktail in the height of lockdown. It requires few ingredients and is super simple to make.

You will need:

  • A handful of raspberries

  • A can of ginger beer

  • A shot of vodka

  • Juice of half a lime

  • Mint for garnish

Recipe:

1. Add the raspberries to your glass and squash with the back of a fork or the bottom of a rolling pin until there are no whole raspberries left.

2. Add the lime juice and the vodka.

3. Add the ginger beer.

4. Stir until the liquid begins to look a little pink in colour.

5. Add a little bit of mint for garnish.

6. Enjoy the fruits of your labour!

Frozen Strawberry Daiquiri

This recipe does require a blender as it becomes a slushy style drink. It is my favourite cocktail and it tastes even better than those you can order in a restaurant. A top tip for this recipe is to freeze fresh strawberries or buy frozen strawberries and then you don’t need to add the ice!

You will need:

  • Two cups of strawberries

  • One cup of ice

  • 100ml of white rum

  • Juice of half a lime

Recipe:

  1. Add the strawberries and ice to a blender and blitz until smooth.

  2. Add the rum and the lime juice to the blended strawberry mix and blend again for another twenty seconds.

  3. Pour into your glass adding a strawberry and a lime wedge for garnish.

  4. You’ll berry much love this drink!

Dark and Stormy Coffee Cocktail

If you’re a fan of coffee you’ll love this twist on the classic Dark and Stormy. It packs a punch but is the perfect blend of bitter and sweet.

You will need:

  • A shot of dark rum

  • A shot of tequila

  • A cup of ice

  • A can of ginger beer

  • 3 tablespoons of brewed black coffee

Recipe:

  1. Begin by making a half cup of coffee, it can be instant or from a fancy coffee machine, whichever is your own personal choice.

  2. Add the ice, rum, and tequila to a glass and give it a stir.

  3. Add the ginger beer to the glass (don’t fill the glass all the way up, leave a little bit of room for the coffee).

  4. Measure out the 3 tablespoons of coffee and add it to the glass.

  5. Give it a stir and then enjoy.
