Nowadays, it is virtually impossible to scroll down your social media feed without coming across tons of self-care advertisements. Finding that hard to believe? Let me break it down. Self-care is a broad term, it can be anything from drinking green smoothies with a face mask on, to downloading apps that elevate your mood. This means that you probably saw self-care related advertisements, without realizing that they were self-care.

With the influx of products roaming around our feed, wanting to purchase everything can be the only thing that you want to do. We have marketers to blame for that. But as students, with limited budgets, and so we must make smart choices.

To make your lives easier, we have picked out popular self-care products, that are worthy of your attention:

1. The Ordinary’s Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%

The Ordinary products are practically everywhere. Make-up artists, influencers and celebrities all swear by them. But in a sea of equally good products, we’ve selected a must have: the Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%. Not only is this one of The Ordinary’s best-sellers, but it is a solution to most of our skin problems. If you are having a difficult time dealing with congested and acne prone skin, then this is should be at the top of your list. This water-based serum reduces enlarged pores and balances sebum production, which is perfect for oily skin. This godsend has many more perks, including that it is sold at a student friendly price. For only £5, you can purchase it from your nearest Boots or online here. (Image courtesy of Boots)

For many of us, straightening our hair is a dreadful thought, but this hair dryer can be a game changer. Just by searching “Revlon hair dryer” on Google, you will get videos of hundreds of women documenting their experience with it. Not to mention, that it received praise from hairstylist, Brad Mondo and major magazine editors. The reason why this product became so popular is because of its ability to blow dry any hair type in half the time it would usually take. While Revlon’s hair dryer is not exactly cheap (£60), it is much cheaper than other hair dryers who have the same effect, so you can consider it a wise investment. With this product, you can make your mornings way less hectic, and that is self-care personified. (Image courtesy of Amazon)
